Friday, September 16th - Santa Rosa: Odyssey in the Rhythm of Mariachi (at Polish Home)

OKO is going on summer vacation (Polish Home closed July and August) - the next film will be a repeat screening of the Slawomir Grunberg's 2013 documentary 'Santa Rosa: Odyssey in the Rhythm of Mariachi' (originally screened May 6 at UW campus). For info and trailer see the previous post below (under info about 'Karski' film. )

See you all  Friday, September 16 at 7:30 pm for the tale of Polish refugees from  Siberia who ended up in Santa Rosa, Mexico during WW2.   Safe summer travels!

  1. this movie in europe movie festivale?

    1. No, this is not part of seattle polish film festival, but will be screened 10/21 in polish film club OKO - moved from september. Post announcing new date coming this weekend. Thank you for asking!

    2. oh, sorry, this movie was cancelled, because it collides with SPFF time in october - see above post for the seattle polish film fest and next OKO screenings i(n polish cultural center)

  2. Why are your movies always screened so late? Have you considered starting them at 7 p.m. or 7:30 p.m. instead of 8 p.m.? I would like to join you, but the time is an issue.

    1. Hi Linda - really glad you brought this up, as the time is too late for me, too :). you notice that the stated time is 7:30, yet the way polish home functions: people come after work, want to eat dinner first, they don't show up upstairs until ten to 8 pm or so (some would like us to start at 9 pm!)...

i no longer can cope with staying till 11 or past for the discussion, so i'm very motivated about moving it down to 7 pm, but probably will have a new audience, if any... tonight is a long film 'chinatown' - planning to start at 7:30 sharp, wish me luck!

my profile on the blog has a email contact, please email me, so i can contact you if i manage to move the screening down.
